Moving crude to refineries and then the finished bitumen to construction sites across diverse geographies adds considerably to the final price. Refinery operating costs, including processing sour crude which demands more energy and specialized equipment, also factor into the pricing structure. Finally, global supply chain bottlenecks and inflationary pressures across various sectors can indirectly influence the cost of production and distribution.
